The kid isnt dead. or atleast during this video, he may be DYING. But definitely not dead. At the end you see that she took off the stuff attached to his chest to measure his heart rate before she takes off the oxygen mask. Obviously when there is no connection to the machine, the heart rate is unmeasurable and hits 0, therefore making a deadline. Of course there is the possibility that he will die anyways later on, since he looks like he is in critical condition.

i think the kid is dead. the video goes in reverse. in the last scene, the mom is sitting over the boy. If you played it forward from the end, you would see her drawing, then rip off the cords and take the boy. And if you listen to the words, they're all about death and stuff "thats what im waiting for"

Yeah, the kid dies...its backwards, so the kid was in the hospital, but when he was going to die, the mom take him to a motel and there he dies...i think. (or maybe they are playing scene by scene backwards)...hard to explain

Excellent statement, however my answer is correct. It's backwards, therefore the deadline is dead, and then comes alive... Yes normally, that would mean hes dead as it goes normal to dead. But she unplugs the heart rate meter plugs from his chest, which creates a deadline. There are 2 possibilities, One being that she KILLED him. Which I doubt, two, shes anticipating his death anyways and is "waiting" for it and decides to take him out and spend his last moments with her somewhere else.

im pretty sure he was still alive but dying. cause at the very end it should his heart beat BEFORE she took him off. and when they are saying thats what we're waiting for they mean that there waiting for him to die but they dont know when. and the mom didnt kill him... she just couldnt bare seeing her son spending his last few hours let alone minutes in a depressing hospital so she took him... and what better place to have a good time than vegas :D although... he wasnt awake...

i think that she dosnt want to face the facts that her kid is dead. so she takes him away trying to forget he ever died, that nothings wrong. she takes him away to somewhere else where she can be alone with him.

It's a fantastic video and all, and really sad, but Coldplay's video for "The Scientist" is the same theme, except was made before this. It's also a lot sadder.
