He kept rihanna because she was more marketable and able to crossover. They are both cool, but it was better for his buisness. Its not rihannas fault I agree. I think she is more talented than Rhianna and Jay Z and The Roc messed her up. They marketed her all wrong and then realized that when her second single wasn't doing to well and decided to drop her to save them some money and stress. With Rhianna it was just the opposite situation, but I feel like she has gotten worst as an artist. Anyways...I hope Teirra Mari gets the opportunity to do her thing. She is a great singer and performer...she just needed the correct guidance!!:)

actually, def jam was going to drop both rihanna and teairra because teairra's second single wasn't that much of a success and rihanna cd flopped. but rihanna had people to back her up like her manager and their whole crew and thats when they found her song sos and also thats why her second cd came out to fast, as you can see it's a lot different than her first because they had to do a cross over so w/o that rihanna would be back in barbados, they both are great artist but it just wasnt room 4 2

Rihanna actually has a record for the most number 1 songs in such a short time. Now as far as Teirra Marie; she flat out didn't sell any records. Her singles could not compete with Rihanna and others who were doing there thing at the time. She can write but lacks performance and vocal skills.

Actually rihanna said herself a lot of people didnt even know about her 1st cd, yes pon de replay went to the top but her cd did not, it flopped and she said herself it was a miracle they found sos,it went to #1 but her cd still didnt sell as many units as they wanted them to so they changed her genre yet again and this time she took over, she had to really fight for umbrella and change her image, she even said in vibe magazine if she hadnt changed, she wouldnt be as famous. and teairra CAN sing

And not to be commenting back twice! but what do you mean teairra lacks vocal skills, that girl has soul, she's from Detroit, she can't sing but she can SANG! rihanna has talent too but in my opinion i rather listen to teairra anyday than rihanna because sometimes her voice is annoying. you need to hear teairra sing acapella then you would change your mind.but i do agree with a lack of perfomance but thats because she doesnt have any coaches like rihanna. but this is just my opinion

The thing is, Teairra is on a more realistic level with material. Rihanna got an image that was more worse than how critics made Lumidee look small. Which by the way, Lumidee is one of the greatest rappers/singers of all time. But Teairra Mari has this voice that like a fit of heaven. When you hear Rihanna, you get a different feeling. But when you hear Teairra Mari; you get passion... The same kind of passion I hear when I listen to Lumidde, Boomkat, Mandy Moore, Monica, Rachel Stevens...
