Mountain is my new best band! Jeez, Leslie and Corky played with Jack Bruce (of The Cream) and then went on to carve a scar into the back of hard rock music - but it seems to be a secret! A secret that I only found about in the last 12 months. Viva le Mountain!

Leslie West's vocals are rarely mentioned in
the comments, but he had just the 'right'
type of voice to do what Mountain did...and
they were as good, live, as they were on record...if not better.

yea i really love bands who can kick ass live...if they suck playin live then whats the point in goin to see them? also i like collecting CDs of live performances. although there is one band that played good live but never really scewed far from thier studio sound and that was Credence Clearwater Revival. they played like a fine swiss watch. but i never knew why they never did much improv...unless they have and i just havent heard.

Leslie West never got the credit he deserved. One could argue he had more to do with starting the heavy metal sound than Tony lommi of Sabbath, Page, Mark Farner and Blackmore later on. (Personally I think they all were equal players) but I think out of the whole group West and Mountain are the least credited. In the "hard rock" world, next to Page, IMHO I don't nobody's guitar licks or sound are more covered. He is a true original.

Holy cow. Leslie is still alive dude! And he still has some great chops on that guitar. Check out my page... Theres a few "recent" shows. Crossroads was done at the World Trade Center just 30 days before the towers came down... it was a huge time for Mountain. Thousands of people as far as the eye could see... Leslie ROCKED Manhattan that scorching hot 103 degree day.

I am going to say this again, maybe the pot hasnt worked its way out of your system yet either. Leslie West is alive and well. Felix Pappalardi, the original Mountain bassist, is the one who was shot by his woman. But yes, "bitch" would be the least I would call her.
