i have been doing jujitsu for about 3 or 4 years now, and there are different styles of jujitsu, some are gentler than others but saying that it is useless in real life situations is stupid, look at all the mma fights people that know ground only get there ass kicked and people that only know stand up get there ass kicked, you can not spar jujitsu very well because it is just too brutal, the slightest ammout of force will snap a mans bone in half, comment back of what u think cheers

my god ur stupid, this is a beginning demo, and i beleive this is a demo for prison guards, later on in jujitsu around purple /brown belt you do compromisation excersises, like if this goes wrong i can do that then if that goes wrong i can do this, and you do it full speed, its just up to you if you tell your training partner to hit you harder and resist so shut ur face
Lets face it ... ( 7 months ago by fzinck)
Lets face it BillySue2 really has no idea that this is a video of demo's not training. Stupid people make comments on things they have not seen. This video doesn't show the 16 hours of training yet he is compelled to write about it. It show a lack of maturity and real understanding.

I find it so very odd that your clips manage to attract comments from some astoundingly ill-informed people with such alarming frequency...yet many of the truly poor clips on YouTube recieve nothing but praise from these same people. Who'da Thunk it!

hehehehehehe, If nothing else I'm controversial! My late GrandMaster was very outspoken and told people exactly what he thought. I'm not as brash as he was but it does boil my blood at times. If nothing else you can really tell who has true training experience and understanding and who is an arm chair warrior wannabe. I notice too that these people who know it all have no training clips of their own :-)

you can spar perfectly well and with relative safety in protective gear. Some stuff will need to be banned of course but youll still know who would emerge on top under full contact pressure.Being too brutal an art was what most styles thought until nhb matches proved otherwise with minimal rules.Dont recall many bones snapped in half in mma '93 through '08.

have you seen the bjj matches, iv been to a few here in aust and iv seen a few broken arms, generally basic arm bars gone wrong(guy didnt tap) but i saw one guy get his arm snapped from reverse fig.4, the guy had a compound fracture and they had to repair most of his tendons because they wrapped around his shoulder

You seem to be focusing on the art as a sport. JJ in particular is a 'brutal' art. But, it is also one that you must respect the art itself as well as the people you are practising with. This isn't something that you just go full boar into because someone could get hurt or worse. You practise the art for the sake of the art not for accolades and accomplishments, not 'to win' as these MMA's have been preaching all these years.

armbars taken to extreme ranges produce dilocation of the joint, would be extremely rare to break a bone in two as you claimed was easiy done. Its a matter of biomechanics not effectiveness .

I would say practice for self improvement, whether that be self defense, art, character, its up to your motivations. Not everyone who practises mma enters the cage,I personally spar for fun and stress release with self defense a close second.

fair enough, but it depends on the arm bar its self, where it is focussed on, fig.4's focus on shoulder and tendons, basic arm barr, usually elbow, so...yeh

I would like to take Ju Jitsu basked upon what I saw in the clip. However, the only martial arts taught in my area is tang su do. We have 3 studios that teach it. Does anyone know if Tang Su Do teaches similar techniques like Ju jitsu?

Good question, I'm not familiar with it. Most clubs will allow you to drop in and have a look at a class and see if it appeals to you. If you're interested in martial arts and its the only one available, try it! You might enjoy it. The instructor will break or make a class so be sure you visit first. Trust your intuition.

Tang Soo Do IIRC is kind of a parent art, much the same as JuJitsu. It's a fairly rounded art but does focus mainly on strikes. From what I've seen it is fairly similar to Kung Fu in many ways and similar to JuJitsu in others. :) As fzinck says though, it is the instructor that is the most important factor, the student is the second and the art is the third. :)

I don't agree. You can take on both tall and small opponents. It all depends. Adaptation. Improvisation.

Dear oh dear. I'm sure it all sounds unrealistic but not all techniques are 100% waterproof. Ju Jitsu is also about adaptation. Everything depends on everything. Having a good sensei is very important. One that knows the why's and what and how's. Not one that says: KICK! and then doesn't explain why it's effective.

have you ever broken anyones arm training?
heheheheh never.... ... ( 2 months ago by fzinck)
heheheheh never.... Senior students know each other well and know each other limits. It's more likely that senior belts will be hurt by beginners as beginners don't realize how little pressure is needed to inflict pain or break something. Plus beginners often lose their balance when someone reacts to pain and Uke gets hurt.

only time I ever broke someone's arm was in competition. this is a great video, the instructors need some practice on their throwing techniques (my background is Judo first Ju-Jitsu Second) but it reminds me of Wally Jay's Dance of pain. All the cool little tricks.
