My humble attempt at mimicking Bernard Edwards. This is the Get it On (Bang a Gong) (7") version. I used my OLP MM3 5 string (It's a $139.99 bass!) since Bernard played what looks like a G
L. UPDATE: Yes, I have seen the Power Station video but John Taylor himself recently stated that he played the solo and Bernard played the main groove. So there! Let's put it to rest already.

Thanks, this is cool!! I was always wondering why NONE of the Power Staion songs ended up in Rock Band, or Guitar Hero for that matter. Power Station kicks ass!!

It's funny, the Power Station Album, along with Make It Big were my first two albums I bought with my own money.
I got them both on record, not tape or CD but I had the actual records for both. To bad they disapeared when I started moving atround. Good job BTY.

If you can find an OLP (don't think they make them new anymore) I think it's a great bass for the money. I am not using an amp. I record direct to ProTools.

i know where you can get an olp from...there are loads of them at my local guitar center..they are not hard to come by at all....if guitar center fails go ebay..for the money they are very very nice and should seve you very well..ive got a musicman bongo myself..i call it my cadeliac:) D

First of all Colby.. you're wrong.. the bassline IS played "strum style".. only the solo is slapped... which brings me to my next point..
Zuma, you did your thing man, but there's a video up on here which shows Bernard and John Taylor in the studio. John is playing the bass part with a pick.. Bernard only played the solo... If you listen closely.. you can hear the sound of a pick on the strings. Bernard's chucking technique has a s

I recently managed to get a copy of the rereleased Power Station 33 1/3 album with extra tracks and a DVD with behind the scenes footage of they guys recording Get it On. If you guys havent got it yet go find a copy. The son 'Someday Somehow, Someone is Gonna Pay is a brilliant track ive not ever heard of before.!) Go get it if you can worth every penny.
