The actors have been sitting in the car with daytime lights shining on them for 5 hours while David O. Russell probably asked for take after take after take of slightly different stuff. Then he asked for something completely different and unrehearsed. This isn't how it's done, either scripted or

Actors need to know what they're doing and what they're saying, even improv guys rehearse their ideas before shooting. This is like reheasing on camera during a paid shooting day .. which isn't just bad directing, but bad production.
