I saw Funkadelic ... ( 1 month ago by iman0400)
I saw Funkadelic the summer of 1975 in Louisiana, they were there with War who was the headline act who was on their 'why can't we be friends tour'. Funkadelic smoked them, Michael Hampton had recently replaced Eddie and was burnin. He kept the Funk rollin 4 sho, back then their act was purely hard core.

Under rated yes that's the word very very under rated, no one does funk better perhaps that's why they are Funkadelic.

rolling stone doesn't know a thing about guitar, they say eddie hazel and michael hampton aren't even in the top 100 guitarists ever. I haven't watched much of they're stuff lately but this just made me say "wow"

He still sucks by comparison? What disrespectful garbage. Get a life...
No - Frusciante and ... ( 2 weeks ago by whatshendrix)
No - Frusciante and these guys were influenced by Jimi Hendrix - the intro riff is a rip off of a song called "Who knows" which is written by Jimi Hendrix. A lot of the arpeggios and triplets are also a rip off of Jimi's woodstock improvisations on Fire and Voo Doo Child. Frusciante knew how to play almost all of Jimi's songs at age 12 so it's all about Jimi influencing everybody, not these guys influencing anyone. They're still fucking awesome tho!!! :)
A Rolling Stone ... ( 1 week ago by amidstupidity)
A Rolling Stone gathers no moss, yet gets very icky with corporate slime.
Let's not forget ... ( 1 week ago by amidstupidity)
Let's not forget that Jimi himself was inspired by other players as well, probably some that never even became famous.
Yeah like John Lee ... ( 1 week ago by whatshendrix)
Yeah like John Lee Hooker, The King and so on. But he took what they had and made it into something completely new. He was far more original.

Perhaps. You can ... ( 1 week ago by amidstupidity)
Perhaps. You can hear a "Henrdrix-ness" kind of quality to Hazel's playing, but that is no different than the blues influences that you can hear in Hendrix's playing. It's all opinion, I personally like both equally.

God I want Hampton's strat.
He is right. ... ( 1 week ago by HispanicImpression)
He is right. Michael Hampton IS music, John Frusciante lives for music. Needless to say that Frusciante nontheless is an outstanding guitarist...
No problem, 97'. I ... ( 1 week ago by doozerace)
No problem, 97'. I think Stone's 100 list was more of a popularity contest than a fair evaluation of great players. Notably excluded was: Mike Hampton, Ernie Isley, Eric Johnson. (Angus Young and David Gilmour came in at #'s 96 and 88,respectively?) Eddie Hazel was listed at #43, but they put a picture of Gary Shider next to his name. Gotta love Rolling Stone, huh. Peace
Yeah that's what I ... ( 1 week ago by whatshendrix)
Yeah that's what I meant. Nothing is entirely new in the world of art, it's just really impressive to see or hear someone leave that huge of an impression on a lot of great artists (in this case Hendrix).
