I think I've seen too many gruesome things and have become desensitised. The torture scene didn't strike me as disgusting...

yeah, he's jackin off. it's a flashback that she's remembering. You'd have to see the entire movie to appreciate this one scene. Blockbuster online has it, I don't know if they carry it at the stores though. It was an amazing movie, just like most of the Japanese horror flicks are.
