Two entirely different players. Each is great in their own aspects. Clapton is one of the cleanest players ever to walk this earth; he can create sounds from that instrument that not even Eddie could replicate, nor any other. It's Clapton's sound. Eddie Van Halen is an amazing shredder, and Eruption is incredible, but its all a matter of opinion and preference. Eddie Van Halen is one of the best guitarists ever, but I prefer Clapton.
