i love the new ending the edge had been playing, layering a new melody over the original instrumental beginning at 4:12. and i'm not sure but i don't think bono was expecting the edge's voice echoeing at the end, when bono turned to him.

Just an example of the awesome chemistry between the Bono and Edge. Moments like this when beautiful music and singing just flows out of the spirit of the moment are what U2 is all about, and what separates them from all other pretenders.

i think bono had been crying the night they recorded this song. some problems he had with his dad. on the studio recording, his voice was lower & resonant with a somewhat plugged nose. he has a genuine crying out in the ending of the record, when he nearly shouts some of the sayings before ending on a higher note when he sings of creating a higher love.
