| This is an extract from the award-winning documentary 'Bombay and Jazz' part of the BBC's 'Rhythms Of The World' series. It was first screened in 1992 and the concert footage was shot for the film. (See 'Don Cherry In Bombay' for the more of the violinist L. Shankar playing with Cherry, Trilok Gurtu and TS Vinayakaram, great clip) I believe the film was nominated for best documentary at Cannes. The narration is by the director H. O. Nazareth, who just happens to ne an uncle of mine. |
