i believe that religion has keeped some things in place wich is good but is time to use common sence. those stem cells have been donated, they dont feel,they dont think.When we find the cure you will notice how worth it it really was.

Sarah - Embryonic Stem Cell Research should not be a dilemma at all...As of today the use of ESC has not been successful after 10 years of research. Adult Stem Cell Research has been successful...Time to put the research money where success has been proven.

Okay, Embryonic stem cells are useless, and they kill a human life. yeah, murder. and we are wasting too much money on something that doesnt work. adult stem cells like bone marrow and umbilical cord work perfectly and have over 70 cures. why in hell would you want to waste time and money killing people thinking it cures diseases, when adult stem cells work perfectly??

It is not useless!!! Stem cells can be given chemical messages by scientists, and can be told to become all 210 different tissues. They can repair spinal tissue, even and eventually, paralyzed people could walk again. It is not killing a human life, because all embryos used are either left over for fertility clinics or abortions, and would be disgarded anyways. It could be SAVING lives, if scientists could research it long enough to do something.

ktb - We are talking about Adult Stem Cells, vs Embryonic Stem Cells. The actual fact is that: No Cures, No Successful Proceedures and No Positive Results of any kind for Human Research has come from ESCR. PERIOD!
Go back to your Junior High School Science teacher(s) and tell them to stop teaching such lies.

200 years ago the idea of a electricity, or a bulb that could produce light was unheard of. It's going to take some time, but it will work. It's already worked a little bit. embryonic cells have a higher and easier rate of differentiation, and if adult stem cells are used, it'll never work. though adult stem cells can become different kinds of cells, they could never make the thousands needed to cure a disease or condition.

70 years ago computers were bigger than some houses, and now we've got computers that are millimeters thin. It will take some time, but it'll work. ASC's have such a low rate of differentiation that we'd never be able to replicate the thousands needed to cure anything. If we could do that, then the body could do it on it's own and there'd be no diseases at all!

EXACTALLY!!!!! and it doesn't kill 241 potential embryos, either, because the embryos are outside of the body by the mother's decision anyways, and would've died anyways. It's not like the scientists are mugging pregnant women for their embryos! It's not any less ethical than abortions.

KTB - Embryonic stem cells produce tumors. Adult Stem Cells are helping people, Today! The improved research needs to be in a proven product. As my grandfather would say "A bird in the hand is better than a covey of quail, in the bush". Even those who are 100% sure ESCR is the cure-all in med technology, will tell you that any successful research is decades away,,,if at all. We have sick people now, that need help, not in 30, 40 50 years.

exactly am sorry i know this was such a log time ago that you left this comment but, we shouldnt waste anymore time so in 30 to 60 years we have the research and we have maybe learned alot about ESCR instead of still at that time debating if we should start to research or not.
