Says who? I've heard that rumour before, but the lyrics don't sound like a song about a methadone clinic. Given that the majority of their lyrics dealt with human conflict and various socio-political themes, I've always thought these lyrics dealt with human conflict and possibly even the Cold War (?). (Remember, this song came out ~ 1988, IIRC, and the Cold War was still going strong.)
If anyone has a specific link to proof this song is about a drug clinic, I'd like to see it.

Back in the early to mid 80's I lived next door to the chicken in this video. Nice bird but had a fowl mouth.
Seriously a great band, very VERY underrated. Should have been much bigger but another one of those "almost made it big" stories. I know they were around town playing a show or two but I missed them. COME BACK FELLAS!!!

Geez - I know the SonyBMG Empire is barely skidding along the gutter, but you'd think that if they were going to post "official" videos online, they'd invest in higher quality encoding. This video looks like shit. I loved this song back in the day ~ I remember reading a 3-Star review in Rolling Stone (one of the members - could've been the singer - used to intern there) after hearing the song on the radio and picked up the cassette. Good, solid album - great song.

I'll just add there should be NO common ground between the average well-intentioned-but-clueless American and the sorry excuses for leaders that run the modern Democratic and Republican parties. The Dems = redistribution of income/wealth (aka socialism) and creating dependance on government, foreign policy based on appeasement, and no judgments on behavior, morality or personal responsibility.
