You know, don't get me wrong, I love modern music. My favourite year was 1985. Great songs. But fuck me, when you listen to music like this and the way it was composed for a WHOLE orchestra you have to realise that these guys, Strauss, Schubert, Mozart et al, were on a different planet to the rest of humanity. Sublime. Perfect. Gorgeous. Majestic. Genius.

And I have to add, do you think in 200 years that classical music from the 21st century will be played on YouTube? Or will they still be playing these songs from the masters? How can no-one write music like this anymore? I wish someone would.

There are some brilliant Modern Classic composers out there. There are some timeless pieces still kicking about from 60-80 years ago. Singers long dead are still listened to.
I agree that orchestral music like this is genius though.
