Main Street Electrical Parade 8mm Film Disneyland Ca Anaheim
Uploaded by: HbVideos
Video Description:
This is A Super 8mm Sound souvenir film of the Main Street Electrical Parade. The film was made by disney sometime in the late 70s or early 80s. It was when the parade was at Disneyland, Anaheim, California. I had this film transfered (rank transfer) to video At A production house here in LA back in 2004. The film was sold at the Disneyland theme parks and by mail order. This was before video tapes were commom in the home.

I also worked as a CD (although we were called "Attendants" back then)in the WDW version of this in 1983-1984. It was almost exactly the same, except by then we had the "To Honor America" float, but I also agree with other posters, it was truly wonderful with the Pinnochio (Briney Deep), Small World, and other floats. Did you know that there was a Pooh float for a short while? GREAT memories!!!

For hard-core trivia buffs -- I think this is also the only video on YouTube to show the OLD Cinderella unit ("pre" step-sisters). If you look closely you can see that the Court Dancer canopies "book ended" the clock tower back then (not the "fountain" float, as it came later) and the Prince stood on a mirrored staircase float at the end of the unit (not middle). Although you can't tell, ALL the CD's wore the same pink and gold costume and the canopies were baby blue for contrast.

This (WDW version) was only in print for a very, VERY short period of time (like 1 year in the late 70's or early 80's), and I have been searching for it for over 3 years. I wish Disney would put all their old media (like this) on the web (like in Napster form) for those of us seeking super rare stuff. Please contact me if you do find it or get a actual address to write Disney to request it. I would like a copy too. Cheers!

Yes. I saw one copy on CD about 3 years ago with the WDW speil "Ladies and Gentleman, boys and girls ... Walt Disney World proudly presents ..." that said it was printed in Tokyo, so don't know if it was really it. They wanted something like $120 for it.

I thought it was from 1977. The absence of Jack Wagner's announcement was a dead giveaway. That didn't come until 1978. I wonder how they marketed the new feature in 1978. "Now for the first time, here the Main Street Electrical Parade speak in electro-synthe-magnetic musical sound!" lol. Maybe.

Tell me, how was it being a Court Dancer? They were always some of my favorite items in the parade. In fact, Cinderella is one of my favorite units in the parade. So elegant! I always marveled at their illuminated costumes, and the way they dance in step with the Baroque Hoedown as well as the Cinderella Ball piece. I've noticed that watching the DVD of the final performance in D-Land. There was a Pooh float?! I didn't know that!

We have a long-olaying record that we purchased back in 1978. I don't believe it has the announcements, but we do have it recorded on video from the late 80s. I have a CD with the announcements that I purchased in 1991. Not sure if it's the "original," but it works for me.

I was 11 years old the first time I saw this in the Summer of 1972, had my youngest brother on my shoulders and loved every minute. I was lucky enough to be there for the final performance in Nov. of 1996, 3 days after my 36th. birthday. I think including myself, my Wife and my Nephew there must have been 10 million folks on Main Street that night. Everyone was cheering, laughing, crying and having a wonderful time. The best Parade in Disneyland history. Thanks very much for posting HbVideos.
