a confined space ... ( 2 days ago by mrpenpen)
a confined space would be that which prevents free movement. The pool, yes, could be considered a confined space relative to the water. However, the pool does not restrict the liquid nitrogen to just that area and when the nitrogen turns to gas, it is free to expand uninhibited by the pool. As for the effects, freezing using liquid nitrogen would require more than a fraction of a second of surface exposure which would require many times the amount of liquid nitrogen to expose for that long.

by the way for those who have actually seen demonstrations of things being frozen in liquid nitrogen you will notice that what is being frozen is submerged, not simply splashed with the liquid nitrogen.

DRY ICE AND LIQUID ... ( 11 hours ago by tlaketiger)
DRY ICE AND LIQUID NITROGEN ARE NOT THE SAME THING. Anyone who took freshman science know that. But apparently some people here did not. Dropouts? Dry ice is solid, compressed carbon dioxide. Liquid nitrogen is supercooled (to the point of liquid form) nitrogen. The fog is it going through, basically, evaporation, very quickly.

If that was actually liquid nitrogen, then that guy is a total idiot. I work with cryogenics, and at -321 degrees, without gloves, had he spilled it on his hands, it would be instant deep tissue cold burns. But since it took so long to boil off, I'm going with this is just dry ice. And the camera guy is a douchenozzle.
