The reason the ... ( 2 months ago by fletch212)
The reason the sound and picture don't match perfectly is because the film speed it was shot in is out of synch. It is an historical document, perhaps it was cleaned up a little before re-release but it's original. The same thing occurs on the Martha White series of shows released in the last 5 years. Camera motors would run a little slower at times throwing things off.

Wrong! Right in sync. Look at when he tunes the banjo -- the music is right in sync. I don't know what you are talking about.

Thanks for the name, I was wondering who that guy was playing that killer Dobro; even playing the same 'retuning' of the banjo perfectly! Truely amazing!!

It was invented in Africa. It further developed in the states though. Actually the 5 string version might have originated in the states but idk for sure.

Thanks mate, traditional Aussie music consists of mainly acoustic guitar and violin (with maybe a little yodelling).
The banjo is a missing element.

That's "Uncle" Josh Graves on the dobro. I saw these guys with this particular band 3 times in person: Grand Ole Opry, Monterrey, TN, and Loyola University in New Orleans. Just fantastic entertainment. Earl is the 5 string king!

Dear children this is what the non-electric version of "guitar hero" looks like. (saucy southern bells not included) I'd pay top dollar for a time machine to go back there and take one of those honeys in the background to the drive-in in a 50's Crown Vic convertible(pint of Jim Beam included)

Hi Zeldafoo9. You might not have heard of Earl Scruggs, but you sure can pick out a talented banjo player. Awesome that you noticed. Most of us pickers were influenced by Earl's playing. He developed the style played in bluegrass music today and it's named after him, "Scrugg's Style". We heard it for the first time and went crazy. Most banjo players remain crazy, but what a way to go. :o) Pick up a banjo and join us. It's really fun.
