SYNOPSIS: Draco and Hermione have shared a secret love ever since their first year at Hogwarts. Hermione knows Draco is expected to eventually follow in his father's footsteps, and she constantly worries what will happen when Lucius discovers their relationship. Draco promises her that when the
time comes, he will stand up to his father...he promises to always stand by her side. However, when the time comes for Draco to receive the Dark Mark, his resolve crumbles under the ever-watchful eyes of his father (who by now has figured out his son is in love with a Mudblood). Fearing for Hermio
ne's safety, Draco ends their relationship; rather than saying it's for her protection, he tells her he no longer loves her, figuring it will be easier for her to move on if she believes it's really over. Draco quickly realizes he can't bear seeing her getting close to anyone else, especially Harry
or Ron. He constantly misses her and regrets giving her up. But...in his heart...he knows she deserves much better than a Death Eater...
