Kim Jingwu is actually a "Kun Gek Do" (Korean Kickboxing) stylist. But he was asked to represent "Taekwondo". He talks about it in an interview. I love TKD but the problem is that their guard is always down and they're used to looking at leg movements insteadof arm. That's why jap's punch connected almost evrytime.

The Korean guys hands are down but so are Sudos. The problem is that the guys guard is low, and that isn't from TKD where they keep their guard all the way down with a open hand. The issue is that Sudo has a sideways profile which allows the backhand to travel a shorter distance. Plus he spins more than once if the opponent doesn't capitalize. The best weapon against a backhand is jamming the backhand short and either pushing or throwing a counterpunch (taught in MT).

It's funny how some people here try to defend TKD saying this guy does Kun Gek Do. He indeed is a Kun Gek Do Welterweight tournament champion, but he trained in TKD. Moreover the founder of Kun Gek Do was a TKD master who wanted to mix muay thai elements into TKD because a TKD fighter got torn to shreds by a kickboxer.

Genki Sudo is good because of his speed in closing the distance with long-range attacks. He rarely wants to stay "in" though when he moves in. Kid Yamamoto exposed his weaknesses of a low guard, and his front kick vulnerability for a catch (because the heel protrudes downwards). He also keeps a side profile to have a faster backhand, but this weakens and slows down the cross, and so 'kid' yamamoto took advantage of this by circling to the inside rather than the outside.

I've never seen Sudo land a hard knockout cross except when jingwu does a slow spinning back kick from too close, lets it hang and gets smacked with a decent cross. He should've never tried the spinning kick without the right distance and speed, but since he did it, he might as well have tried a hard back fist when completing the kick (taking a move from Sudo). Sudo is entertaining and talented but his disregard for proper technique can (and was) exploited by technical fighters.

Sudo was always a grappler first (one of the best outside of the BJJ realm) and a striker second. This proves why.
