I'm an atheist, ... ( 1 year ago by Domzdream)
I'm an atheist, happily so, but I do believe in something, which I've practiced most of my life, since I was 10. That's karate. It taught me balance in physical, spiritual and mental stability. Plus, my club members are like my brothers and fathers.

david, well I am a gay man in in 2001 I was the one of the very first to get a civil Union (AKA gay marriage in America)and had bus loads of Christians showed up to protest, and also we received over 10'000 peices of hate mail from what they claimed as Christian. So I have been a bit skeptical after that,,,and a bit before that.I always do , however I keep an open mind to potential kind chriatians.

I'm sorry to hear that you were treated so horribly. I wish it were possible to apologize for those who treated you with such fear and hatred, but unfortunately I can only speak for myself. And while I can't say I agree with your lifestyle, I do believe that you have a right to live your life however you see fit, and that no one has the right to impose what they believe upon you.

david I remember being gaytsince I was 5,,I know that sems imposible ,,but true, I was never feminine, ( today I am a firefighter, and My partner ia Pilot) But I just knew something was up,,,Its like telling a Hermaphrodite they must chose one or the other ,,when the have clearly both options.

david most homosexuals I talk with know they are gay way before puberty. I do not believe it is a " life style choice" I come from a very educated family,,they also believe it is not a choice....
Everything is a ... ( 9 months ago by davidwmeckmier)
Everything is a choice. Getting out of bed in the morning is a choice, even if you don't feel naturally inclined to do so. Brushing your teeth is a choice, even if you don't feel like it. Just because you may be predisposed toward something does not in any way mean you have no choice in the matter. That's like saying "I had no choice in not showering for the last month, because I didn't feel like getting wet."
david ,I do believe ... ( 9 months ago by Clemburke1111)
david ,I do believe you are correct,,every thing is a choice,,I could chose to not be with My partner and stay single and celebete, but I would be so unhappy, that life would not be worth it,,,it is not about the sex,,it is about being in love.
And that's where ... ( 9 months ago by davidwmeckmier)
And that's where our worldviews differ. Christians believe that the ultimate purpose of life is the glory of God, while humanists believe that the ultimate purpose of life is personal satisfaction and happiness. I'm not the type of Christian to tell you how to live your life, but I'm also not the type of person to allow someone to use the "I have no choice" excuse. We all have a choice, regardless of how we feel.
david, I have no ... ( 9 months ago by Clemburke1111)
david, I have no choice in being a homosexual,,yes I do have a choice of personal happiness,,I choose personal happiness with a Partner and our adopted Daughter.
Perhaps where we ... ( 9 months ago by davidwmeckmier)
Perhaps where we get hung up here is in the difference between feeling an attraction to men and actually "being a homosexual." In my opinion at least, feelings/emotions don't make you something, nor do they show you who you are. I could feel like an idiot at times, but that doesn't mean that I AM one; it just means I feel that way. And I could be attracted to certain types of people, but that doesn't define who I am; it just reveals what I'm attracted to.
david, Well I know ... ( 9 months ago by Clemburke1111)
david, Well I know I am " actually a Homosexual" It would be like telling a Hermaphrodite they they are not "actually a hermaphrodite" they just are attracted to both sexes ,,because they chose to.

yes, I completely understand where you're coming from, which is why I disagree when Christians tell homosexuals to stop their lifestyles. Jesus talked of us being fishers of men, but unfortunately a lot of Christians seem to think that fishing means cleaning the fish before you catch them. it's rather absurd, and the fish don't like it much either. :oP

david, most of my buddies are straight men and when I asked them if they had to give up the women that they loved Christian or not,,the answer was a resounding NO, and 1/3 of these firefighters and cops are Christian.

david, two days ago a buddy of mine in Tampa Fl, died of a heart attack,,he was a cop,,and gay,,his Christian family stepped in a threw the partner out, even though the WILL states his Partner gets it all. Tt is all frozen for who knows how long,,that is why marriage is so important for gays.

Very few Christians ... ( 3 months ago by MarkBH70)
Very few Christians that state they are actually are, I believe, firmly. Jesus said the way was narrow, and few there are who find it, so the vast majority are not Christians, a vast understatement. Paul called it a transformation. Yet few are!!!
As David said, I believe the point is to catch first, and they should be persuaded by kindness; if outsiders and insiders aren't treated with this, it's a perversion of the religion! Nobody wants it in its current state! I'm sorry and God bless you.

it's not marriage that's the issue; it's civil rights.

david, Marriage ... ( 3 months ago by Clemburke1111)
david, Marriage unfortunatly provides protection for my Partner and the other way around, it actully provides over 120 rights we would not useually have. A Living Will and or Regualr will can easily be contested, and many times families have contested and won. With out marriage I can not visit my Partner in the hospital or even have the rights to his body if he is deceased.
