Jesus is speaking of church discipline in the text she's using, not about a supposed ticket to a life free of suffering and inconvenience -- if we just believe fervently enought. Never demand of God what He hasn't promised in Scripture. And 1 Tim. 2:12 is something she and anyone reading the Bible has to interpret and apply. Note that Paul's reason in v. 13 is grounded in creation, not culture or sin. Grace and peace!

To Hornedone - I'm interested to know how Chrstianity promotes those things. If your thinking of passages in the old testament you need to remember that the jews were living in a theocrasy, the levitical laws were not given to show gentiles (non -Jews) how to live a christian life but just how impossible it is to obey the law and come to God on the back of our own righteuosness. Don't see a whole lot of hate in Jesus' sermon on the mount...do you??

As for Joyce, or any woman preaching for that matter... its not an issue of how well she preaches, or if she is indeed a better public speaker than any man... its a matter of headship. The man woman relationship is to show the world the relationship (a visual aid if you will) of Christ and his Church. So that is why Paul says that a woman should not teach, or have authority over a man in 1 Tim, and it is a shame for a woman to speak in church in 1 Cor.
