That's what grappling techniques are for. Most body armour will not protect your shoulders, elbows, knees and vertebrae from being dislocated.

Actually grappling doesn't work that well in armour. Throws and taekdowns work wonderfully, but not so much for armbars, and kimuras. After you've stunned them by putting them to the ground your best bet is to go for a weapon, like a knife.

It seems that flying, spinning kicks only work well against people using similar flying, spinning kicks. In the old days of UFC when it was style vs style and not "mixed martial arts" the successful combatants were drawn from BJJ, kickboxing and wrestling; TKD, capoiera and kung fu practitioners never did very well.
