Easy, use the guard rail!
Setting: Nurburgring straight-away 2002
Car: Free use os a BMW "company" car
Options: Sunroof, NAV, Xenon, ...
Sound of a $40k car hitting metal, priceless
That's what the German's call it. The car's were provided by BMW to train us what to do incase your brakes die or there is a big accident ahead you want to avoid. A temporary guardrail was set up on the straight at the Nurburgring. This was my first of three time doing it. FUN!!!!!!!

I've had 2 of those cars till this day. These tests are made to save your life one day as I said. A car is a car but you cannot replace a human life. I love beemers and I'm happy the germans are doing all these tests so I can be safe in my car. YOU CAN REPLACE A CAR OR YOU CAN FIX IT BUT YOU CANNOT REPLACE A HUMAN LIFE

if you're driving at autobahn speeds, or even more than 50mph, your handbrakes are not going to help you if you need to stop quickly. of course if you have the luxury of time, you can do all that including using your gears.
