The whole story is indeed a myth, yet the myth was based on an actual war between the Greece and Troy. Since this story was written a century after this war ended, it's not historicaly accurate.
But it's a fact that the writers in Ancient Greece where brilliant, therefor there was absolutly no reason to go adjusting the story whatsoever...
(lot's of people grew up with these myths, no wonder they think that the movie sucks)

I am sorry to tell you that but yes Troy existed and the war was real. It's not only Homer who talked about these wars. There were facts and the story is true. Just look over it and then you will see. May peace be with you.
