On September 15, 2007, the Province of Alberta shut down "Tent City," an empty lot that was used as a campground over the summer by the homeless in Edmonton. Here is a look at that final day.

Several of them did not want to leave right away. They were upset about being separated from their loved ones. In response to one of your previous comments, many of these people do work -- ten buck and hour temp jobs are not enough to pay rent in this city.

I have absolutely no sympathy for these people, this is a capitalist society and either you comply or you go without. "Sleeping in apartments" I left a friends apartment and there were two homeless people in the foyer passed out and reeking of puke. Booze is what most of these people had chosen and it ruined thier lives, not my fault and not yours. Go to AA better yourself.

And panhanlers really piss me off, Calgary Trail and 23rd, young guys who can work, young ladies who can work. Instead sit there all day with a fucking sign saying give me money for nothing. Go work on the rigs, 5500 a month take home and Im not complaining. I pay 15000 last year in tax for these assholes to sit on thier asses.

my boss is so desprit for workers that he actually rented out a room in a motel and hired a guy and paid him22 dollars an hour to work. housing costs were all payed for by him and the bird brain quit the job after 2 weeks. i think they deserve it.

I have seen jobs right here in Edmonton that pay you the day you work. Maybe not as much as what begging would pay but its honest work. They should go join the army. They will be fed clothed and given shelter. This is Canada not a 3rd world country. Any retard can get a job. I don't care if 7-11 pays less than begging. I pay enough taxes and I won't pay for a bum to sit around at the tim hortons.

I was homeless for 6 years, alot of these people, in fact 85% of them get comfortable and lazy with their homeless lifestyle and choose not to make an effort. Notice that through the first half of the film everyone who in interviewed is drunk or has a hangover. You can hear it in their voices. If they made an effort things would be different.

I was 3 years homeless at an age of 57. many homeless are mental patients and junks and the SOCIAL workers love them, because it means good money for them. To escape is not easy I made a small shanty boat, cold in winter, now I have an oldage house of 2 rooms.

am losing everything due to land development
not even foreclosure. I am basically getting nothing because I owe more than what my 'settelment' was, I lost my job, got outsourced to India!!
I am working hard to find another one, but over
over, rejection, lack of jobs, no affordable housing. I have nowhere to go!!, I am a decent person
don't drink or smoke.
Showing drug addicts like this makes me feel more hopeless. Thanks
