I've listened to both versions and I think I like Don Ross's better. It's much more intense, this is more funky. Both are amazing, Don Ross's is a personal taste.

I don't even think some of the shapes he's using with his left hand are in a chord/ position book, he makes up his own keys to play his music in, I think Don Ross's is a little less clean, a little more sloppy than this

exactly. Most of the candy rat guys use DADGAD tuning, but this is also a baritone guitar and I'm not too familiar with them, so I can't say if any tunings are different with them.
