I like the acoustic bass especially. The Defenders Theme is another good track. Cant find it here though. This music was too good for the lousy quality TV show it was written for.

Riddle had many TV and Movie themes. Route 66 and The Untouchables were his best on TV, plus Theme from Lolita(1962)-Yah, Yah- was his best on film.

Absolutely superb, this is tight combo playing, but the instrument that i have to single out as exceptionally good is the piano, the hook just wont. I cant get enough of this. Brill

Yeah, I agree... the more I listen to this, the better it sounds! Could some expert tell me who the some of the musicians on this track are; trumpet, piano, drums, guitar, bass..I need to know.

When this series started airing in England, I was only about 5 years old, too young to fully understand the storylines, but i made sure i was sat in front of the telly, just to see the beginning where Marty and George are driving that cool convertible in time to the theme music. As i tried to state earlier(but incompletely), that piano hook just wont quit. Is this theme available, i need to get a copy--pronto. If any of you readers are swing dancers, this is a great song to cut a rug to. Awesome

Hi isleyrundgren,,good call, The theme is available on disc, N.R. TV themes. I was about 5 as well, my dad would try to explain what was happening but I just loved that 'Vette!! Yes, it would be a good one to dance to,,,just wish is was longer..but who are the musicians playing the solos...this is driving me nuts...This tune just sends me AWAY!!!

I have looked and looked and can't find a definitive answer on who played guitar. Mottola is a good guess, but considering the time and the fact that it's Riddle's orchestra, it's probably either Howard Roberts or Barney Kessel. I'd vote for HR because he was known for endings like this one.

The guitarist couldn't be Mottola, he was born in 1949, according to Wikipedia...so either Kessel or Roberts. Most likely Roberts as he has played on lots of other TV themes. Now...folks, what about that trumpet???
