As can be seen in ... ( 2 weeks ago by thealphacrow)
As can be seen in Isaiah 22:22, kings in the Old Testament appointed a chief steward to serve under them in a position of great authority to rule over the inhabitants of the kingdom. Jesus quotes almost verbatum from this passage in Isaiah, and so it is clear what he has in mind. He is raising Peter up as a father figure to the household of faith Is. 22:21, to lead them and guide the flock John21:15-17.

Here's your rebuttal to all you've put forth. There's really nothing else that I need to say. It's all here: tinyurl(.)com/6norkv
This authority of ... ( 2 weeks ago by thealphacrow)
This authority of the prime minister under the king was passed on from one man to another down through the ages by the giving of the keys, which were worn on the shoulder as a sign of authority. Likewise, the authority of Peter has been passed down for 2000 years by means of the papacy.
I'll ask again ... ( 2 weeks ago by LaneCh)
I'll ask again perhaps because you missed it: "I'm sure that since you're Roman Catholic, you hold that it was the consensus of every church father that this is the right interpretation. Am I correct in assuming that?"
I'm not buying ... ( 2 weeks ago by thealphacrow)
I'm not buying somebody's tape. I'll read the bible and the writings of the early church fathers and Vatican 2 and Augustine and the encyclicals of the popes and then I'll come on youtube and test the teaching to see how well it holds up. It's holding up quite nicely. Your only response to this peter argument has been to send me to a website that asks me to buy an mp3 that will supposedly rebut my statements. The bible says "YOU" be ready to defend your faith. I am. I have.
I didn't miss ... ( 2 weeks ago by thealphacrow)
I didn't miss anything. I'm just discouraged that you are asking another question and haven't addressed anything I have typed. By the phrasing of this question I think your trying to lay what you think is a trap. Why don't you just state it and skip the theatrics.
It's not a tape, ... ( 2 weeks ago by LaneCh)
It's not a tape, Justin, it's an article. lol, I see that the RCC isn't only thing you act upon based on assumptions. :)
summarize it for me. ( 2 weeks ago by thealphacrow)
summarize it for me.
My apologizes, ... ( 2 weeks ago by LaneCh)
My apologizes, Justin. You see, when I go through the trouble of finding a link and posting it here as a response, I assume that you have the integrity to actually see what it says before acting upon presumptions and not even clicking it. For your answer again, though, here is what I wrote: "Here's your rebuttal to all you've put forth. There's really nothing else that I need to say. It's all here: tinyurl(.)com/6norkv " Now, as to that question, will you answer it or continue to avoid it?
I posted the link ... ( 2 weeks ago by LaneCh)
I posted the link for a reason. You asked for a rebuttal. I gave you one. I will not retype what that article says for your mere convenience or amusement, Justin. Read the article and respond, or quit instigating something you cannot prove as true. It's as simple as that.
tinyurl(.)com/ ... ( 2 weeks ago by thealphacrow)
tinyurl(.)com/6norkv this is different then whatever you posted before. The other one sent me to a place where I could purchase an audio mp3 of a debate between some guy and Gerry Matatix. There was not text on that site there was only an order form.
Even still Lane, ... ( 2 weeks ago by thealphacrow)
Even still Lane, now I have to copy and paste the things that are wrong. Rebuke them. and deal with your 20 questions while I'm doing it. You know what Lane, Good Night. I've printed out our conversation here and we will be going over it in our Apologetics group this week. You should be in the movie Oliver. You're the Dodger.
How can you sit ... ( 2 weeks ago by thealphacrow)
How can you sit with your conscience tonight? You are playing a dirty trick because I proved you wrong. You don't want to admit it. Are you a Pastor? Being wrong is not the end of the world but when you puff up your pride like this, it causes great concern. You are being dishonest. I asked several direct questions today and you avoided all of them. You gave me a link that is jumbled. -
ος -ης -ας -ας -ης -ες That's Greek. Yours is something else.
There were two ... ( 2 weeks ago by LaneCh)
There were two different links. The first was the audio mp3. The second 2 or three were to the same article. Anyone who checks the archives can see that is true.
Thanks for proving ... ( 2 weeks ago by LaneCh)
Thanks for proving once again the fruit of Roman Catholicism.: Actually get presented with something meaningful, abstain from answering it (ie. dodge it), then assert that they're a dodger with an ad hom. Bravo. lol
In light of all the ... ( 2 weeks ago by LaneCh)
In light of all the "honest Scholarship", "straightforward arguments", and "refrain from ad hominemn argumentation" that you've used here, I've decided to block you as I have better things to do than deal with this inane "argumentation" from someone who doesn't even take the time to read links. Farewell, Justin.
"How can you sit ... ( 2 weeks ago by LaneCh)
"How can you sit with your conscience tonight?" I don't know! I mean your ad hominem and circular argumentation is certainly enough to keep me up from my normal sleep time of 10:30pm to the time I'll probably fall asleep tonight at 10:32pm! Please. I've had atheists be less circular in their argumentation and actually refrain from using ad homs to get their point across. That actually doesn't bode well for your position btw, regardless of what Home Sweet Rome tells you. :) Enjoy your cookies.
PS. Somewhere in ... ( 2 weeks ago by LaneCh)
PS. Somewhere in here, you referred to me as "brother." You are either ignorant of what your "church" believes or do not hold to what your "church" holds to willfully:
CANON IX.-If any ... ( 2 weeks ago by LaneCh)
CANON IX.-If any one saith, that by faith alone the impious is justified; in such wise as to mean, that nothing else is required to co-operate in order to the obtaining the grace of Justification, and that it is not in any way necessary, that he be prepared and disposed by the movement of his own will; let him be anathema. (Council of Trent - Session the Sixth) Why not be courageous enough to actually hold to what your "church" professes to hold. According to it, I'm not a brother.
look buddy you are ... ( 2 weeks ago by dirtbagdoppie)
look buddy you are agruing in circles that fact is the pope is not a biblical term it was adopted later by the roman catholic church. along with the prayer to mary and to saints. you guy's add new doctrines all the time but the FACT IS WE ARE SAVED BY GRACE THRU FAITH NOT OF OURSELVES IT IS THE GIFT OF GOD NOT OF CATHOLIC CHURCH. I WILL NOT CONTINUE TO ARGUE WITH YOU ABOUT PETER
hey um,could you ... ( 2 weeks ago by LaModeluv)
hey um,could you answer a question of mine?I accepted Christ when I was about 10,with the 'prayer'.I'm not sure if I meant it,I was a kid I guess.I keep on doubting sometimes..and so I try and get saved again and again, but then I stopped well cause I believe in Christ and thats all that matters right?Like none of my experiences are like these people..why did they have to ask like 10times b4 they got saved? It scares me,cause I don't have much emotion.
Sure, emotion does ... ( 2 weeks ago by LaneCh)
Sure, emotion does not validate your salvation. People say that it does, but they are wrong. The fact is that if you believe in Christ, and trust in him, you are saved. An emotional experience is no where mentioned as a prerequisite in Scripture.
thanks for that ... ( 2 weeks ago by LaModeluv)
thanks for that quick reply :)
um,but why did these people almost seem like they had to fight for their salvation? The guy said he just 'understood'..I understand too.Where do I stand?what does it mean to 'trust' Christ?I mean whatelse would I trust, its absurd to me.
IMO...it is ... ( 1 week ago by kamaujackson811)
IMO...it is fruitless to debate the papacy and sola scriptura with Catholics. The fact that the True saving gospel of Jesus Christ has been so incredibly distorted is enough to never trust the Roman Catholic Church; thus, making any argument about the papacy irrelevant. Also, any self-professed "Christian" group that attempts to gain converts by first creating doubt about the Bible's infallibility and authority...is nothing more than more than a cult. And that's about the measure of it.
