Oh Kurt, Am in a way glad youre not around to see this - a financial meltdown of the US economy based on the greed of CEOs and the de-regulation of big business put into place by Reagan and ratcheted up by Bush. But gosh, it would have made the core of a great KV novel!

I've read all his books, and he gave me some laughs, but I wouldn't want my son to read him; he is a misanthrope, a pessimist. His conclusions are insane-"we're awful animals, we are a disease,we should stop reproducing."

Hey had only three kids. He adopted three who were his sister's kids after they were orphaned. His sister died of cancer, and his brother-in-law died in a train crash--all in the same week, I believe. He also adopted his 7th child when she was an infant.
