Queen, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Cream, Radiohead, Kinks, Small Faces, Rolling Stones, The Who, The Hollies, to name just a few would have a few million people begging to differ. America ruled for about 6 years and then the UK took over and dominated - 1963 killed off all the American acts including the Everlies which is really sad. They should have had more success. I've loved them for about 20 years!

The part you miss about ALL of those UK acts that you mention is that they make American music. Their very music IS American music. That is the genre they are performing.

Surely its American influenced. But American music came from Britain via folk and old English Ballads which the Everlies themselves sing. Barbara Allen, Down in the willow Garden are two songs which originate from Scotland and Ireland. So in conclusion its not American music its just music!People are influenced by it and then adapt and so it evolves and will continue to do so. There is no ownership.

American music came from a combination of styles from Africa, Europe (including what is now the UK), and even Asia. That said, the resulting mix it truly original American but all can enjoy it.

Waldo99 .. I love the Everly Brothers. I had the chance to see them locally about 12 years ago. Couldn't pass up the chance to see them and they sounded Great. I was htoping they would do Bowling Green and it was the First Song they did
