How could you see ...( 3 weeks ago by fkappreciative)
How could you see him? Was that asshole hiding behind his sound rack like he did in Nashville?
I was able to see ...( 3 weeks ago by PrimericanIdol)
I was able to see him because i was right in front of Adrian (about 6 feet from him and Levin). so Fripp was in plain sight for me. and YES he did have those stacks trying to "cloak" him.
Where was Fripp ...( 3 weeks ago by dvdly)
Where was Fripp positioned again?
Stage left (as your ...( 3 weeks ago by fkappreciative)
Stage left (as your facing the stage). I've seen Crim before and Fripp sat in the dark. But at least he joined his band after the show center stage for a "thank you" bow with the band. This time, he sat in the dark, obscured by effects racks.
Just why do you ...( 3 weeks ago by dvdly)
Just why do you think they're called STAGE left/right, fkappreciative? Fripp hasn't been stage left since 2003. And before you say it was an honest mistake, let me ask you why one should lend credence to a comment whose ignorance precedes it? That said, I'll bet Yo Yo Ma hasn't had ignoramuses crawl on the stage during his performance for autographs.
Are you telling me ...( 3 weeks ago by fkappreciative)
Are you telling me that a fan crawled on stage for an autograph? Wow, in that case, Fripp needs to sit backstage, play and forget the audience.
Simply because an idiot yells "free bird" at a Crim show or some fan crawls holds his cell phone up to Fripp's amp, does not give Fripp the license to hide behind sound equipment. Hell, Zappa encountered fan lunacy constantly, yet, Zappa would've never hid behind sound equipment.
Perhaps Fripp needs to retire since he obviously can't handle it.
License? It's ...( 3 weeks ago by dvdly)
License? It's given by those who attend the show, whose overwhelming majority enjoy the performance regardless of the stage setup. Perhaps you need to stop granting such license, given you're such an authority on what can or can't be handled.
You are exactly ...( 3 weeks ago by fkappreciative)
You are exactly right and shame on music fans for tolerating Fripp's attitude. We are only granting him "license" because that is the only way we are going to get a show.
But I suppose it all comes down to personal taste and what one expects from a live show. I guess I expect a little more from a band. As far as the rest of the audience is concerned, there were many seated around me who were quite angered and insulted by Fripp's obvious back of hand to us all.
I suppose it could ...( 3 weeks ago by dvdly)
I suppose it could be natural for fans who feel insulted by what they perceive as a backhand to project shame for having attended the show(s), at least insofar as they've been disappointed more than once in many cases, and certainly anticipated disappointed for any number of reasons. However, I hardly think satisfied attendees should feel any less of themselves for having enjoyed the concerts, and yes, even Fripp's attitude.
I gonna see them ...( 3 weeks ago by vivelavidarocka)
I gonna see them tonight here in NYC, hey!!, Bobby...! If you are reading this : Make yourself visible for the audience to enjoy the show, OK? I paid a lot of money for this ticket. Should I bring my night vision goggles to be able to see you? I hope not. See you (I hope) later....
Fripp has never ...( 3 weeks ago by JBigjake)
Fripp has never acted as the "front man" of the band. He has always sat off to the side & let others, from Greg Lake through Adrian Belew, take the spotlight. He's reserved, quiet, maybe shy. No need to name-call.
I saw KC on Tuesday ...( 3 weeks ago by JBigjake)
I saw KC on Tuesday in Philly, will see them in NYC tonight. I doubt RF will change things, so I hope you are not on the left side. I was in Row 5 in Philly, had no trouble seeing him. Tonight I'm upstairs.
I would hardly ...( 3 weeks ago by fkappreciative)
I would hardly consider the term "front man" as negative or as "name calling." But you do have a point to a degree. Years ago, he wasn't the front man. Nowadays, since he is the only original member and it is his band, he could be considered as the front man. But I do understand your point.
From that vantage ...( 3 weeks ago by fkappreciative)
From that vantage point, maybe you will be able to see over his citadel of sound equipment. But don't count on it.

The negative words ...( 3 weeks ago by JBigjake)
The negative words were "a**hole" & "schmuck", not "front man" :D I saw KC again tonight in NY, same configuration. One guy kept yelling at RF "Come out from behind your amp!" That didn't work!
Actually, I found ...( 3 weeks ago by JBigjake)
Actually, I found out that there is no "upstairs" at the Nokia; I was behind the orchestra/floor, elevated enough that I could see RF's head above the amp, or whatever it is.
