Unfortunately it needs to be shaved every year. The hair gets stuck together if it gets longer, and that hurts for the cat. If it doesn't get shaved, wounds start to appear on the skin. That's why...

They have to shave it because they're too lazy to brush it, so groomers like me end up having to shave the poor creatures down.

I just had my long haired cat shaved and I am so glad. She doesn't get fur balls anymore and she is so much more happy and comfortable. She doesn't have to spend all day grooming herself either, she plays more now.

Nope. Truth actually. People are very naive as to the care of their longhaired cats. These cats become lazy, stop grooming themselves, their owners don't brush them, and they become hopelessly matted. Then I have to take my clippers out and BUUUZZZZZ. Naked cat. Poor creature.

Uhh well it's not because I think it's cool, I wouldn't harm my cat for that. It's only because her hair was annoying her too much. It needs to be shaved every year.

I know how this goes. :( My cat Tango has needed to be shaved also. (I uploaded a couple videos as well. X3) His fur was all matted and gross, plus he was burning up, because its summer now.
He would actually pull out his fur, because he was so uncomfortable and leave it in clumps around the house. Not fun having to vaccum all the time.
Well, At least he's a lot more comfortable now. As strange as he looks. X3 It all grows back in time for winter too.
