you all have stupid oppinion, the purpose of playing a game is to entertain your self and have fun. If playing for a long time makes you happy then you should keep playing. They use CRTs for a few reasons, however much you want to debate those reasons. A game like starcraft has to run at non-native resolution (creating aliased graphics), and more importantly, the response time of LCDs is slower. Pro players spend fractions of a second looking at any one position on the map and their cursor movements are crazy fast. Some find LCDs to be too slow. Since some gamers will be happy to play on LCDs but ALL gamers will play on CRTs, they default to CRTs.

It's also worth noting that South Korea manufactures a ridiculous percentage of the world's LCD displays - the ARE the world leader in LCD technology and manufacture, so it's not like they've never heard of them before. The LCD you're staring at right now was most likely made in Korea. Samsung is a huge Starcraft sponsor, even - I'm sure they could have all of the LCDs their hearts desired and more...if they wanted them.

It's a very interesting point, and thank you for the marketing information :) But considering the fact that they stare a lot at those monitors, radiations can damage the eye. And the radiation coming from the CRT monitor is much bigger than the LCD monitor. I really doubt that's the reason. Somehow I believe that the people who arranged the entire place and did the whole testing thought of giving the whole place volume, for the comercial output.

there is also the thing that maybe pros prefer CRT monitors instead of the LCDs; just like how they use old keyboards and mouse they've been using for years. btw, LG and Samsung (two of the largest, Samsung I believe being the largest) are Korean, not Japanese as most Western Foreigners think ^^

Yes, you are correct about the radiation, which is why many pros wear glasses. If they dont wear in games it's because they want to look sexy/cool/whatever but they have to wear them in practise. Boxer doesn't need glasses to see and neither does Nal_RA but in all games they wear them then take them off afterwards, and that protects their eyes ;)

as a pro gamer myself (in counterstrike 1.6) not Starcraft, i can tell you that the reason they use CRT not LCD is for 2 reasons
1. CRTS can run 100hrtz, and has 0 delay, even the worlds best LCD at is 2ms which is really noticable in gaming, it ghosts and u see the older image blurred behind when you move the mouse fast the 2nd reason is starcraft was made in 640x480 or maybe 800x600, either way it was definatley not made
for an LCD native resolution.
