Err...Mr. Guli, US was there in Afgan helping Bin Laden. If it is not American who caused that, I don't know who can be claimed to be responsible?

Sadly Ron Paul's outlook on global interaction can be as narrow as Buchanan. The US economy is dependent on oil. Shortsighted yahoo's managed to place huge obsticles in paths to acquire domestic oil
forced the US to seek oil elsewhere. Then people like bin Ladin damn the US for doing it. EVERY COUNTRY looks out for its own interests. Keeping the economy going is a security issue
foreign actions that threaten its flow demand US intervention. Much about this sucks, but it's reality.

I hate these supposed "reporters" giving their opinion. They're supposed to be objective... I just love how he schools people, in the name of the Constitution! Someone should make a comic book Constitution Man~!!!!
To onboard1960: I'm ... ( 2 weeks ago by jfmVIII)
To onboard1960: I'm confused about your criticism. Noone says that oil is not important to our current economy. The prickly issue is how to NEGOTIATE and TRADE with others, instead of involving our CIA in drastic foreign political machinations, wresting local resources from sovereign nations that threatens our national security as a result of blowback. I see less need for intervention; that's what's causing prices to go up (along with our degenerating World Currency, the dollar).
Ron Paul makes ... ( 2 weeks ago by nesselar)
Ron Paul makes valid points, yet I believe he's jumping to wrong conclusions due to a fundamental lack of understanding of Islamic extremists' views. Had they wanted to fight out occupants, they would attack them directly. The attack was perpetrated to demonstrate their strength and instill fear if the hearts of enemies - which they consider to be anyone who does not share their beliefs.
jfmVIII: confusion ... ( 2 weeks ago by onboard1960)
jfmVIII: confusion stems from deciding a coment that was a statement of facts is critism. Concern yourself with the CIA, political machinations or whatever else floats your boat. I'm not going to "should've, would've, could've" this. Regardless the process acquiring access to foreign resources, due to the multitude of cultural differences, there will always be factions that scorn our very presence. Always. bin Ladin is emblematic of that. The mess is ironic as hell.
Onboard1960: I take ... ( 2 weeks ago by jfmVIII)
Onboard1960: I take it your comment then amounts to "some hate us. This sucks." Fair enough, but accusing Ron Paul of a narrow outlook on global interaction reminiscent of Pat Buchanan is an overarching statement that shows a denial or ignorance of the history of the region's conflicts and an unwillingness of moving the discourse forward, which I guess is your "should've, would've, could've" dismissal. I agree with you that things certainly suck ass right now.
Nesselar: That's ... ( 2 weeks ago by jfmVIII)
Nesselar: That's part of it, but missing the point, I think. You simply cannot win an occupation. Enemies are people who don't share their beliefs? I disagree, I think the major factor is arrogant foreign powers invading countries' national sovereignty and causing serious collatoral damage, as weak-minded regimes attempt to capitalize on the resulting resentment to further their own political ends.
There are many ... ( 2 weeks ago by part2themovie)
There are many countries that dont share their beliefs, they're not all getting attacked.
You remind me of Guilliani making that statement. It epitomizes the ignorance of common American sentimentality. I'm not an American so its easy for me to discern this. Guilliani comes off like a little retarded kid reporting a nother kid to the teacher. so sad how they play this game like they're
going to win sweets at the end of the debate. oh wait, they do!!

consistently, on occasion, consistently.. good thing she's pretty
jfmVIII: Yes, ... ( 2 weeks ago by nesselar)
jfmVIII: Yes, extremists view anyone who does not share their fundamental beliefs as enemies. Remember, I'm not talking about a whole population, but only extremists. This, by the way, doesn't indicate my positions regarding occupation. I'm sticking to the facts, or at least what I believe them to be.
Part2: True. There ... ( 2 weeks ago by nesselar)
Part2: True. There are also many countries that don't occupy lands and do get attacked. The choice of location is based on many factors, including convenience and ease of execution. You really don't have to take my word for it. Search and see for yourself.
jfmVIII: Buchanan ... ( 2 weeks ago by onboard1960)
jfmVIII: Buchanan focuses on isolationism. Logically, Ron Paul is doing the same. Geographic vs political. You call it overarching. I see the semantics. Due to the variabilities in cultures
the difs in power structure within the "govts", the strategy should focus on domestic methods instead of acquiring foreign resources. Referring to my unwillingness to engage in a discourse, where the result of action is determined, is damn pompous. Perhaps you enjoy exercises in futility.
jfmVIII: One LAST ... ( 2 weeks ago by onboard1960)
jfmVIII: One LAST comment to you. Seeing as though you took a complete explaination, reduced it to 5 simplistic words, shows that you are either oblivious to the situation resulting from US presence or are just too myopic to see anything beyond preconceived conclusion. I certainly don't object to one expressing a differing opinion, but your summary which deemed my words inferred ignorance said a lot about you. Refusing to engage in "ifs" meant pricesly that: No hypotheticals.
