Seriously, the real goth bands are bands like Sisters of Mercy, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Alien Sex Fiends, Bauhaus and so on. Not Lacuna Coil, Evanescense or various metal artists. But just because they aren't goth bands, that doesn't mean that they can't still be good (:

Speaking of genres and Siouxsie and the Banshees... according to Siouxsie Sioux, they were a "punk" band. My personal opinion is that "goth" evolves. No one can deny that the Sisters of Mercy and Bauhaus are the epitome of the gothic genre. On the other hand few bands play like them any more but we get a good number of rock and metal bands which carry this dark, gothic feeling to them. If Sisters were the goth of the 80ies, bands like Lacuna Coil are the offspring of this decade. Just my 2 c.

I agree, I think that the gothic genre has evolved with time. You can't say a genre only lasts a decade. I don't believe that Evanescence and HIM are gothic bands, I'd put them in a totally different category. We can say the 80s just happened to be a great decade for the goth genre, but to say it stopped there is a tad much. I think a band has to have a certain feel and sound to be considered goth anymore, just because they don't sound like Siouxsie doesn't mean they're not of the same genre.

The music sucks, but I can't stop looking at this woman she's so gorgeous, and her voice is great, but the other band members should take a step forward, they're like behind, maybe if they put more soul and work on their instruments they would stand up too, and would be a perfect band. But lacuna coil is still a voice orientated band.
