Cool show, but this guy's fear-mongering for dramatic effect at the expense of accuracy ticks me off. North Korea's longest range (partially) deployed ballistic missile, the Taepodong, has a range of about 2000 km, enough to threaten S Korea and Japan, but not Hawaii, much less the continental US.

Nice work, however I can't help but think that a directed energy weapon, like THEL and the Airborn laser, would be a fine compliment to any defense system. The people involved in this project have reason to be very proud. : )

Really cool video, and good quality too. But not so great of accuracy. The Patriot didn't perform all that well in the first Gulf War, although it has improved over time. Also, I doubt we will ever be able to defend against ICBMs until we have something even more effective and devestating, so I doubt this will work.

Aww such fragile toes you have! Seriously though I was wondering because I've heard it before. Is that effective, reflective balistic missiles? The original MDI used space based mirrors for it's lasers as well. I mean if defeating those laser is that simple the money may be better spend on kinetic weapons than ABL as James Bond-esque awesome as it may be.

The particular wavelengths of the High energy Laser beams will destroy any mirrored coatings on a missile. To be reflected the lasers optics are made with special coatings and finishes that have to exactly match the laser so they don't heat up and burn.
