A sad many people have not yet realized the awesome power of Relativity and quantum mechanics. Having read the Bible, the Silmarillion, and Einstein's own paper, I take my explanation of the universe from one, enjoyment out the other, and mild amusement at the remaining. The Bible's cake if you've read the Silmarillion. Lacking the bible for ethics, I of course resort to my handy Guide to the Galaxy, and consult that parralel world, the Discworld.

Am curious though..when Christians say they feel joy when realised they're saved, is it because they realise they found the way out (as in yay, i'll go to heaven for sure cuz of Christ no matter what) or smtg deeper? I dunno, I'm a Christian but I never ever felt 'joyful' if that's the word. For me is just do good and treat others how u want 2 b treated end of story.*shrugs* But oh well,everybody's difren..Anyway, amen to the Silmarillion.. =D That's 1 hell of a book. Love it.

I remember watching this on TV, in a time when a living Leonard Bernstein was an "ordinary" part of reality and we thought the world would be a better, more peaceful place soon... Ack, I'm getting old. Thanks for posting (two years late:-D), it's a wonderful piece of history.
