During the trotting race in Trondheim, the leading horse dies to a heart attack/swallows his tongue .. and breaks the neck. This leads to a massive chain collision and horses are pouring to chaufeur's neck (He got through it with broken arm).

Actually, there's some question as to the whip. Some folks think it should be banned and my own local track actualy did ban the use of whips during one race this summer as a part of an on going study.

I don't really like the whip and it is pretty cruel. I have never used one nor do I know very much about racing. What I do know is that the whip can cause both phsicological and physiscal trauma to horses.

Christopher reeves accident was tragic.
But he new the risks of show jumping.
That's something I would never do, those jumps are dangerously high.
There are risks in every sport.
Sky diving, Surfing etc. All can be deadly.
Horses are wonderful creatures and have gentle souls.
Its people who put themselves and thier horses in danger in sports such as Rodeos, Horse Racing, Show Jumping. I hate all these sports.
So dont blame the horses, blame the people!!

I actually own a horse that didn't want to harness race. He had a fit a couple times on the track, so they sold him to another barn, he is now my spoiled rotten trail horse and is as happy as can be.

Do you even know how dangerous it is to be around horses who are in these situations. Horses only know that they have to get out of the sitituation therefore they display this behavior. There isn't anything wrong with it because who blames a horse trying to become unstuck or fighting to stand up? Even though it's just that it is dangerous, horse hooves can easily kill a human or do a lot of damage the only smart thing to do is get the heck out of there.

So your telling me that while your horse acts out on instinct your going to stand around trying to solve something and be competely hurt by a horse who is ignoring you? Most horses will have fight or flight instinct, most likely fight and in this case they just want to get out of what ever is holding them and screw the rest. The horse was not dying. I cannot do something to a horse when it is thrashing about, dying or not. Would I want to help him? Duh, of course but can I, no. No matter what kind of horse you have and it freaks out they will ignore you. I will not man up to a horse who is spazzing and will ignore me and potentially hurt me. If the horse is stuck, they will eventually get out or stop fighting, which is when someone will step in. 1000 pound horse versus a 130 pound human is not smart in any case.

Having a bond with a horse has nothing to do with this. I have some amazing bonds with my horses, but they are HORSES, they are not humans and they do not understand things like humans can. You can teach a horse to not freak, but nonethless you never know until they are in this situation. It is dangerous, period for any horse or any human. Would you go straight to that horse freaking in the video and do something about it? Honestly, with it freaking out like that?
