It's no comparison, but it's also incomparable becaurse it's 2 different styles: the old 70's dance style and in this case with "Swept Away", the 80's danceclassics style.
It was her attempt to get into the dance charts caurse SHE wanted it, nobody tells LaRoss what to do musically....
I respect LaRoss and I respect Madonna too for what they accomplished. Everybody makes mistakes y'all.. Nobody can please everybody.. Staying on top for so long is harder then getting there!

There are more artists who sometimes in their career made a side step that the real fans loathed...but I;m a musician myself: sometimes you just feel to do something completely different.
It's what keeps the creativity running, even if you go back to your own style you were known for.

yeah maybe she was attempting to attract a different fan base, she didn't succeed, because of putting out this kind of music, she was dropped from american radio. her career took a nose dive and never recovered. feeling like doing something different is understandable but she completley threw out the very thing that made her a superstar and began doing only this kind of material, which didn't sell.
