The Republican party isn't the same as it was 30 years ago. The McCain campaign is on the ropes, and sadly it's no surprise they're responding with attacks and outright lies. John McCain and Governor Palin are setting a new low in presidential politics with their dishonorable campaign. It's clear why John McCain doesn't want to talk about the issues facing ordinary Americans -- especially the economy, which his own advisers admit he can't talk about without losing.

GHW Bush said "Read My Lips, no new taxes!" and had to raise taxes to control the national debt after Reagan ran up the credit cards. Whoever gets in office this time will have to, it's just a matter of who pays. I've never seen us fighting wars and not raising taxes to pay for it or instituting the draft. No wonder our debt is so high. Low wage workers still pay into the tax system everytime they shop, as a percentage of their income, sometimes as much or more taxes than the rich.
