Overall, I think it was good. ALso, I think you're fine to play matched. Traditional is only truly appropriate with angled snares, LIKE IT WAS DESIGNED FOR. If you play traditional on a flat snare, your shoulders can become uneven and your posture will eventually lean. So, if you prefer a flat
drum, play matched. If you have tilted drums, like our SCV buddy, unless he played the '05 season and likes wearing his snare below his knees, learn traditional.

this line needs balance. take two snares to bass of one to bass and one to tenor. that should even out the sound. other than that, just tighten up your technique and do some tuning. you've certainly grown from last time.

jesus what the fuck is wrong with your tenor? it seriously looks like you went and got a monkey from the zoo and told it to play tenors... his technique is one of THE worst i have ever seen, and what the hell is wrong with the tuning? marching tenors are supposed to be cranked like 6 turns higher than what you have it at... and your snares sound like concert snares... just horrible...

Hey guys,
I understand that you don't have alot of this kind of stuff in Aus. Considering that you have no other influences other than what you see and hear on the internet or TV, then your not doing too bad.
Just practice heaps and don't listen to the folks that say it sucks. I may be talking out my butt, I have only played for 30+ years and still do play profesionally and give lesson as well as having been in winning corps before. But hey...What do I know ?

"A" for effort. You need to update your book, forget about distracting special effects (moving around, fancy sticking, etc.) and practise, practise, paractise. Since you already understand you are starting from a lower level, why not try emulating some of the earlier drumming styles from North American drum corps of the 70's. For examples of music that was not unduly difficult but very tasteful, try listening to Cavaliers, Madison Scouts, Oaklands Crusaders from 1972 to about 1978.
