The groupies-band aids, made this movie lame. Back in those days feminism was on the rise sure, but the bands saw them for what they were, easy pickings. All the girls who love this movie for the Penny Lane character had the wool pulled over there eyes by Hollywood and Kate Hudsons bad acting. Remember in the the movie when she was "lost" to another band during a card game? That was the closest thing to the truth in the whole flick when it came to groupies. They counted for nothing.

Agreed, 100%, I am not a musician, but I hang out with a lot of musicians. And I am HUGELY into all different genres of music. Kate was great in this movie. This movie was beautifully perfect.

I think the point was kind of that, while on the surface, she still counted for nothing, she had obviously still managed to get through to somewhere inside of him. Showing that while rare, and that really sad things happened to a lot of girls/women who thought they were "in love", would get tossed aside.

in the end,that managed to make him change his whole view about her, the article, etc.And while girls got treated poorly (in that time), who's to say that there wasn't the odd REAL connection here and there?That's how I interpretted it anyway.She made enough of a difference in his life,that he was willing to lay his bands vulnerablity all on the line
let"The Enemy" publish the article.If movies were all 100% accurate,that would take the fun out of them.

Dupree", "The Skeleton Key", SNL with Radiohead,
that's all that I've seen. There's way more that she's done. So wow, calm the hell down. Her father was Kurt Russell
her mother was Goldie Hawn. I think she has a little acting in her blood. Still, if you don't like her then go watch movies with more "talented" blondes, I think you'd enjoy something with Pam Anderson in it?

I didn't really think of it as a "concept". It is about a guy's real life experience after all. It's not a painting. I really hate romantic movies, actually. I'd prefer to watch Braveheart or Gladiator or 90% of comedies. However, I actually like her. I don't think she's the worst actress ever, either, not even counting porn, sorry to say.

I just remembered this comment, and responding to it, it's like a year old comment now....but the movie WAS loosely based on Cameron Crowe's life when he toured with The Allman Brothers. Penny Lane's character is based on a combination of two different real "groupies", one who's name is Penny Lane (she has a website) and one who's name I can't remember now.
