Sampras' and Agassi's dwindling careers, along injuries and complications to players like Guga Kuerten (physical) and Marat Safin (mental). This was also before Federer and Nadal came into their own. The same could be said of a guy like Andy Roddick, who experienced a career high due to these same factors.

Yeah, I really miss seeing him get so pumped in every single match he played. Then again, one can't really complain since we have Federer now.

umm knob it had nothing to do with Agassi or sampras being out of form...agassi won a Aussie open in 03 and pete won the US the year after lleyton. Lleyton is a winner cuz he has more guts and determination that any other player on the tour...and when on song hes the number 1

yeah the guy has a family and another kid on the way, hes been to the top of tennis and won a few slams so its not like hes got something to work towards. also the game has changed since when he was number one. Hes not as quick as he once was through injury and age, and racket and string technology allows the ball to be hit about 20% faster. He still manages to be the outskirts of the very best in the world.
