Yeah. This isn't what is commonly known as "throat singing" as from Mongolia or Tibet, with the prominent overtones. It's more like a rhythmic growling. And it's a game between two people. They do it for fun.

back then we inuit didnt have anything to make music so we start using our throats . and its part of our culture .

Amazing, just started listening to throat singing, when I heard the Mongolian styles and Tuvan I immediately recognised some Native American sounds and wondered if the Alaska area did something similiar ,now I know. Amazing!

it's only done by women. Typically 2 women. Has nothing to do with hunting but probably takes from the sounds and rythms of the arctic.

I imagine you want to know how sygyt (the whistling style) is done, though. You apply the harsh voice for the base tone. The overtones are made by pressing the tongue to the roof of the mouth, but only on one side and the front; leave one of the sides relaxed.; that's how the whistle is made. It also helps if the lips are pushed out into a bell-shape on the side the tongue is open on. If I can dig up the tutorial I found, I'll share it. :)
