People are tied to what comes into the reach of their senses. If the family of those people would starve to death and they would witness it every day 24/7, they would get mad and hunger riots would break out. But if the economic terror of the west starves 100000 people to death every single day, then it is not perceived to be "real" because at best they know the information, but they do not grasp the reality because it is not in reach of their senses.
