I love this movie!...I went to see it 15 years ago or so very begrudgingly. This movie is a drama, comedy, farce, love story, rocky story.

I don't think I ever liked characters more than the ones in this movie. There is so much redemption for not just the leads but all; the mother and father, his ex partner, Fran's father....Its very hokey and corny but how can u not want them to dance (win? who cares)...the dancing their own steps is a metaphor. I hope if u are cynical about thsi movie, you'll give it another chance....

There are some moments (I hate to say this) that are electric....when scott dances that firts step in the final scene just to the hand clpaps...man! great film making.

Seriously this is one of the worst videos ever. I would sit around and watch an hour of play school if it was a choice between this and play school. Only that I have to write a essay on this which is worth 20% of the yearly marks.

This is one of my all time favourite movies along with East is East, Kes, Scum, the Exorcist, the warriors and the wanderers.
the characters, humour, sarcasm, dancing, numerous depths and emotion. Hindi movies have aspects of this. Corny, dreamy but entertaining, especially for a billion poverty stricken Indians who'll never get out of their state or have hope. Escapism.

sometimes I think I hate just about everything on earth and then I see this again and it makes me want to dance, just this sequence is a beautiful bit of film making and every time I have ever seen it I realise why we are more than we deserve
