Dave Demay can be contacted through his website http://www.SongCityStudios.com. Dave has lived in Nashville, TN since the mid 80's. He is a seasoned producer, recording artist, musician, engineer, songwriter, and vocal coach. Dave is also co-owner in his studio business Song City Studios.
His mother, Shirley Webb, of the Webb Family Quartet, was a member of the Grand Ole Opry during the 50's. His aunt, June Webb, performed and traveled with Roy Acuff as a member of His "Smokey Mountain Boys", and was married to Buddy Killin, who at one time owned some of the Beatles catalog, and pu
blished "Heart Break Hotel". Buddy Killin's publishing company, Tree Publishing, was at one time the largest music publishing company in the world. June Webb had a number one single in the 50's on Roy Acuff's Hickory Records. She was also produced by Chet Atkins on RCA records. June and Dave's mothe
r Shirley, still sing and play beautifully to this day. Dave's brother Dan Demay is also a well known songwriter in Nashville, and has had songs cut by the likes of Daryl Worley, Tracey Lawrence, Martina McBride, John Michael Montgomery, and many others. Dave's rich musical heritage, and wide spec
trum of abilities, play an inherent and intuitive role in his performances and production work, both on stage and in the studio. Along with staying on top of contemporary music productions, Dave enjoys singing and playing in a Bluegrass band in his spare time. Playing Bluegrass keeps him in touch wi

Thanks for the post! I grew up with star search (born in 1981) and love watching it again whenever I get the chance. American Idol is fun too, but Star Search just brings back so many memories!

Thank you for your comment. I've always believed in genuine performances without too many vocal acrobats, or over-acting on stage. Your making note of that is appreciated, even though this is performance is nearly 20 years old.

I remember that Sam Riddle was the producer, and the other principles behind the program were Al Masini, and Phil Flanagan. Perhaps you can find them in Hollywood. The catalog may have been bought by someone else by now. I would actually like to locate the master beta tape copy of my shows as well.

Hey dave, believe it or not but I decided to look up star search because I was on it the same year you were. I was part of the junior dance group that year in the first category. I knew Bobby Day who you beat in the finals. My name is nate johnson, we made it to the semi finals but lost and didn't make it to the finals. Just wondering if you still are in contact with anyone from then? Kim coles? Lisa Domiani, Bobby Day, The group "J", or Heather Medway they were all finalists I believe.

Unfortunately we've all lost contact. At least I did. You get so busy with the business, that it takes a real effort to stay in contact with all the people you run across. I really liked Bobby Day. I was sure he was going to beat me in the final episode. You can tell by the expression of surprise on my face when I won. Bobby was a true professional and a gentleman. I hope he is doing well. I have listened to the song you wrote and recorded in 1989 over and over and over. It should have been a HUGE hit. Thank you so much for the compliment gailsuzann... Believe it or not, I've been so occupied working in the studio producing other people's projects, that I've not recorded any recent works that I would want to put on a CD. I still sing out live these days as well as in the studio for others. But I will say that soon I'm going to produce a new project for myself. When I do I will post it here and on my studio website where the CD can be purchased. I'm selecting and writing songs now for it. Thx

I enjoy June Webb's singing on the old grande ole opry shows back in the 50's. She had a great voice and was extremly pretty. On one video of her singing her voice seemed to "break" and she smiled and blushed but kept on singing, was that normal for her voice, did she have a short vocal range? Is June Webb still alive or when did she pass on? I can't find out much about her maybe you can help.

Thank you so much for mentioning June. When it comes to singing talent, I idolize June, and my mother Shirley as well. June has always had a smooth vocal range, much like a gifted jazz singer. The same is true of my mother. God has blessed me to have been exposed to such talent since I was a young boy. June was a member of Roy Acuff's Smoky Mountains Boys who were a rowdy crew, they where probably clowning with her while she was singing, thus causing her to break. She has a flawless vocal.

By the way, June is still singing and performing in Hawaii. Her voice is as beautiful as ever. My cousin has made contact with another fan of June's who made a hobby of finding old film footage of June along with my mother. Once my cousin Lisa get's a copy of the clips to me I will post them. These will be clips that even I have never seen before. So, believe me, I'm watching the mail box with bated breath!! Thanks again for remembering June.
