But Saul is so very black! Both are poets often mourning the death of hip-hop, but there are certain elements and experiences Sage just can't touch.

Uhm, the Fugees? Did you just actually compare the Fugees first album, Blunted on Reality (which came out in 94, so it didn't come out before Nas' classic), with Illmatic? Wow...that's disturbing.
Man, you're ... ( 11 hours ago by k4nc3r)
Man, you're argument is bizarre and off topic. What does Wu-Tang, The Fugees, or The Roots have to do with Illmatic's accomplishments? There's a reason Illmatic is considered a classic. The lyrical excellence and production values are through the roof. Apparently, DJ Premier, Pete Rock, Large Professor and others aren't good at making beats in your opinion. I love the roots, wu-tang and KRS, but that has nothing to do with the quality of Illmatic. Learn how to make a coherent argument.
