This video is a fraud that's rife with false connections. Studies of the 1995 Community Reinvestment Act found that the loans resulting from that act did NOT result in higher levels of default; even Ben Bernanke testified this.
The video fails to mention the 2000 repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act (written by Phil Gramm and signed by Clinton) that allowed banks to take risks in Mortgage Backed Securities (MBS).

Also, the video fails to mention that the largest increase in Mortgage Backed Securities occurred between 2000 and 2006.
This whole thing is much deeper than the selective Wikipedia references in this video indicate. Please do real research on the subject if you want to know about it.

I am not sure that giving the poor a homes brought down the whole banking system. I remember the years under Clinton and the way he reigned over the congress to balance the budget with surplus and 23 Million jobs. Then this financial mess really got going under the republican admin and congress. Maybe they took A GOOD THING and currupted it by getting their gready hands into swaps, derives and BS vehicles of repackaging loans to make money transfering paper from one to another ...hmmmmm?

Latin America is INNOCENT of the American crisis, however USA makes that Banks and Insurance companies that they harmed throw them their financial problems. These nuisances went down them the EURIBOR to the alone USA because it manufactured FALSE MONEY without FUNDS and he gave them to him like to THE MAFIA, and immediately the EURIBOR ascends to Latin America so that the costs of the crisis pay them these Poor Countries. This is a great example of how socialism doesn't work. Good intentions and bleeding hearts can't replace the tried and true incentive based capitalistic system.

This video also completely ignores why financial markets failed--Deregulation of credit default swaps. The Bush Administration, Phil Gramm and the Fed all wanted to let private equity investment banks sell securities to the world markets with promises of payback but not actually having insurance. If the credit default swaps were regulated the instability of the securities and "black box" of their value wouldn't have happened.

This video also distorts the influence of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. It's funny how it doesn't display the data from the Federal Election Committee that states McCain's contributions from Fannie and Freddie lobbyists and Directors are $169,000 while Obama's are $16,000 from the same group. The numbers in this video only include donations from individuals and PACs. Also, even strictly looking at the total given by individuals and PACs, the donations are over $2 million for Dems and Repubs.

Yes, transparency for Freddie and Fannie was necessary, but McCain pushed for deregulation of the investment banks who sold the MBS to the world markets without fulling disclosing their financial risk (seperated and spread them across packaged investments). Both Republicans and Democrats are too

The surplus and deficit are referred to the pace of the current fiscal year. Clinton's later years had large surpluses, and all estimates indicated that the federal debt was expected to be payed completely off (look up the CBO estimates)if policies continued. The Fed was even worried abou the government possibly investing money in the near future.
If you don't believe me you can "google it" and "study the facts." I know it's easier to simplify everything, but the world is more complex.

I'll agree with IIMoses740II, Before you try and yell consipiracy do what the guy who created the video said and Google it and learn something yourself. Do some research and be proactive and find out what's going on in the world and how it got this way before waiting to get that information when its too late!
