Back in the good old days of Sonic yore, this was the first place that people played when they tore open and plugged in the sequel to Sonic the Hedgehog. Emerald Hill Zone is one of those typical video game first levels in ye olde non-threatening grass land. That's no insult: it's still totally sweet. Notice how its B section is very similar to that of Flying Battery Zone from Sonic
Knuckles.
